Authentic Lifestyle Shot on Film, Storytelling Through Real Moments with Brian Powers

My favorite people Before my daughter’s senior year, I wanted to get out and do a little backpacking with her and some of her best friends. These three are next door neighbors and have spent the last 10 years growing up together while creating a special life lasting bond. I decided to only bring @canonusa film gear to document the trip. A Canon super 8mm film camera from the 70s, and a canon 1v 35mm with 1 lens. It was an absolute blast of a trip. For those that might not be familiar with super 8 cameras, you only get a total of 3 minutes of footage per roll, and you’re not able to see what you are getting or play it back. I brought 2 rolls of 50d! Not having service or digital cameras really helps enhance the feelings and mindset of being present. Trip was all the better having our pup Kula keep us entertained! Rain and shine, we had a blast picking huckleberries, sharing stories and hiking around to other lakes and peaks! Would you do this with your favorite people? Who would you bring?!

Lifestyle branding photography on film is gaining attention again because it creates an emotional, nostalgic look that feels real rather than overly polished. Shooting film with classic gear from companies like Canon brings intention back into the process, slowing moments down and helping people connect naturally with each other and the environment. For families, creatives, and personal brands, this approach creates imagery that communicates authenticity, trust, and story driven identity. Photographer Brian Powers uses film lifestyle sessions to help clients stand out with images that feel human, timeless, and deeply personal.
